What better way to follow a review of cheap booze at Blockheads then with a review of free booze at The Cottage. Free with caveats, of course, the most glaring being that you're willing to order over $10 worth of food. The second being you're willing to beg for it, wait for it, and are prepared for the Glare of Eff-Off-And-Die-Choking that the waitresses have perfected for people who ask for more then one carafe of free Franzia.
This is as of this spring. I haven't been back in a while and their Free Booze policy seems to change monthly, so don't take my word for it if the siren song of free box wine is what's motivating your trip there.
Luckily for them, the food is pretty good too. Not the best I've had, not even the best I've had on the WS (That would probably be Hunan Balcony) but really quite good, fresh tasting, and unlike the booze, they don't try to skimp. Nice sauces that don't all just taste like generic sauces 1 (sweet and sticky) and 2 (brown and soy-y).
All in all, pretty good place. Has the added bonus of showing who at your table is either and alcholic or a total badass, willing to go up against the waitresses for that second carafe.
