Menchanko resides in a section of Manhattan not obvious as a lunch destination, near the MoMA, Central Park, and Time Warner Center. The noodle soup for which it's named worked the perfect tonic on a recent rainy afternoon. Craving hamburgers, we trudged from MoMA through the rain to Five Bros and faced the wrath of a menu board sporting calorie counts. 700 for a hamburger? It just wasn't the day for that kind of gluttony and luckily, we were right next door to this delicious noodle house, where the only numbers on display are prices, and those quite low.
